Faith that Creates Miracles 1/15

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

In the frustrating moments when we pray and we do not receive an answer, when we observe the situation of the family worsen in front of our eyes, when illness seems like a giant that we cannot defeat, and when our financial problems seem so hopeless that we have uncertainty about tomorrow, many of us might stop and wonder: “How can I obtain faith that creates miracles?”

The disciples asked that same exact question when they were unable to cast out a demon from a young tormented boy. When they witnessed the miracle of Jesus freeing the young boy from his torment, they asked him: “Why were we unable to perform the miracle?” Jesus responded that if they were able to have the faith of a mustard seed, they would be able to produce miracles.

A mustard seed is a very small seed in size. However, when it is planted, the seed obtains life and it begins to grow tremendously every day until it becomes the biggest in the garden. To elaborate on this point, we could say that when a person hears the word of God, that seed of faith is planted in their heart and there it becomes rooted, producing life and causing that faith to grow stronger until it produces results. Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ (Romans 10:17).

Jesus teaches us that we do not need enormous faith; we just need a sincere faith that is able to believe in Him. While meditating upon this, a young child came to mind. A child believes what their mom and dad tells them without any reservations. If the parents promise to buy them a ball, they believe them, trust them, and full of joy share their happiness with everyone by confessing what they are going to receive. Jesus said that if we were not like children, we could not enter the kingdom of heaven because a child is innocent and pure. Thinking of this, it became evident that the principle of faith works in the same way. A child believes in their parents without worrying about whether or not the parents have enough money in the bank to buy them the ball. They do not lose sleep thinking about when it will happen and they do not doubt their parents’ promise. Lastly, and most importantly, the child does not debate as to whether or not it is their parents will to buy them the ball. The child just simply believes what their parents say without any hesitation.

Faith that produces miracles is faith that believes in the word of God. Mark 9:23 states: “If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Perhaps you have been praying for a while for that mountain of problems to be removed but nothing has happened. Perhaps you have asked: “Why have my circumstances not changed?” Jesus himself answered that question when he said: “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Believe this word just as a child believes in their parents. Rise up and speak to that mountain you are facing and order it to be removed in the name of Jesus. Just believe and nothing will be impossible for you. Amen!
