Keeping Our Thoughts Fixed on Him 3/13

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.

Many Christians live their lives full of fear, confusion, and despondence. They live trying to find peace and continually pray to have a moment of tranquility but are not able to find it. Their lives are always full of tension despite the fact that Jesus came to give us an abundant life. The constant fear of what tomorrow will bring, the fear of not having enough money to pay the debts, the fear of getting sick, the fear of having their families destroyed and the fear of death along with many more things befall believers and cause them to feel weak when faced with any difficult circumstance.

The prophet Isaiah states: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.” He is talking about those whose minds, intellects, hearts, and souls are waiting in God. Those who have their heart full of the word of God and on His promises are the ones who will be kept in complete peace because their thoughts are fixed on Him, and where His presence is, there is peace.

The Word of God living in us produces our eyes to be fixed on Him, and when our eyes are fixed on Him, we are able to trust in Him and know that He is in control of our lives. It is not in vain that the author of Hebrews writes the following: “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb. 12:2) Those who fix their eyes on Him will find true peace because God is the Prince of peace.

Peace comes as a result of the faith that we have in God. Faith in Him produces trust and that trust makes us fix our mind in Him and there is no circumstance or problem that can discourage us. When our eyes and thoughts are fixed on God, we will be able to fully trust in Him. This trust will consequently fill us with security which will allow us to live the life that Christ wants us to live: an abundant life of peace.
