Unconditional Love 9/14

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Love is a profound feeling that everyone wants to experience, possess, and caress. Many poets and famous writers across time have written about love. Artists have used their brushes to convey what they believe love us. Great composers have composed beautiful melodies that speak about love.

However, although their work is beautiful, every one of those poets, writers, artists, and composers express love in an imperfect way because humans are imperfect beings. Perfect love, incomparable love, and pure love are all found in one word: God, because scripture states: God is love. 1 John 4:8

There is no love more sublime than the love of God. There is no greater love than the love of God. We can love our family, our friends, and all those that we believe are worthy of our love. But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5:8

What an amazing love! When we were still in sin, when we were evil, when we were walking towards darkness, He saw us and He loved us. It is very unlikely that any human being, not even one of us that are Christian would give up our life to save a person no matter how good or just that person might be. However, in contrast, Christ died for us while we were still despicable individuals.

The natural mind cannot understand the love of God. The book of Ephesians tells us that: only when Christ lives in our hearts through faith and we are grounded in love will we be able to grasp how wide, long, and deep the love of God is for us which exceeds all understanding. Oh how amazing and great is God’s love!

Maybe you have been going through a difficult moment. Moments of tribulation, moments of anguish when you have asked: Where is God’s love? But the love of God has made itself present in all of your tribulations. Even through the silence, quietly it has extended its hand and with its power it has sustained you from growing faint and weary. The love of God is so great that even in the midst of your situation, in the midst of the confusion and pain, when you have said words of doubt and have doubted his faithfulness and kindness, His love has not changed. Great is the love of God, His love is an unconditional love. Amen!
